Annual Spring Conference
Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine Inc. & The Kinship Program (AFFM) greatly values the safety and wellbeing of families, staff, and communities. With the most recent announcement made by Governor Janet Mills and recommendations from the CDC on ways to reduce the spread of COVID-19, AFFM will be canceling their annual conference which was scheduled for April 17th & 18th, 2020 in Portland, ME. At this time, AFFM does not plan to reschedule the conference and will refund any registration payments that have been made. AFFM understands that many of those who attend the conference count on receiving much-needed information and training hours to renew their foster care license. AFFM will continue to work with the conference presenters, the Office of Child and Family Services and collaborating organizations to provide families, child welfare staff, and other community partners with innovative ways to deliver the training and information participants may not receive due to the canceling of the conference. As an additional means of precaution, AFFM will also be canceling their C.A.R.E.S. meetings and the receiving of donated tangible material goods through the month of March and April. AFFM will provide training and support via phone and online meetings and will be sending out additional information in the days to come. AFFM is appreciative of the resource’s families have provided to our offices and look forward to continuing this support in the future. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support during this time.
