Relationships, Communication & Mutual Respect

March 27, 2007 (Registration Deadline: March 20, 2007)
Workshop: 3:30 – 6:30 P.M. Registration: 3:00 – 3:30 P.M.
North Dining Hall, University of Maine, Farmington

In order to realize success, individuals in all fields of work need to communicate effectively and work collaboratively. This has become especially critical in the field of education, as academic and social expectations have risen and the diversity of our schools and local communities has increased. This interactive workshop will assist you in understanding your communication and relational preferences, as well as the preferences of those around you. You will begin to understand how to engage more effectively with others, even those whose styles prove challenging for you. This workshop will also provide you with the opportunity to network and share ideas with other educators.

Outcomes:

  • Learning to understand and celebrate the importance of differences.
  • Identifying your own personality preferences.
  • Sharing how we can build trust through finding commonalities.
  • Identifying ways to with work with others whose styles and preferences prove challenging.
  • Energy created by working with peers in a brain-compatible environment.
  • Confidence to apply specific strategies to your own teaching partnerships.
