Win a Vacation Opportunity at Tamarack!
The History of TamarackWorld renowned scientist, Wilheim Reich, specified in his will that his Cabin, Tamarack, be used as a "summer home for children." Each summer, his residual estate, The Wilheim Reich Infant Trust Fund, makes the cabin available to foster, adoptive and kinship children and their families who otherwise might not be able to afford a summer camp rental. Mary Higgins, trustee, works with AFFM on this opportunity annually. Location
Cabin AmenitiesTamarack is a large cabin with a charming and comfortable interior. The cabin has a kitchen, bath, 3 bedrooms and a beautiful living room with a stone fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with a large refrigerator and a gas stove for cooking. Families will need to provide their own food and bedding. The camp does not have a telephone or television. Eligibility RequirementsDue to a limited number of vacation opportunities designed specifically for families who could not otherwise afford a vacation, certain eligibility requirements apply. In order to be eligible you must not own or have access to a summer camp, time-share or RV. We also ask that you not apply if you have been a Tamarack winner within the last two years. Tamarack leaves a journal in the cabin for families to share the many joys and exciting activities they experienced during their stay. The pages of the journal share stories of life long family memories with other guests as well as with the Wiheim Reich Infant Trust Company who makes the opportunity possible. Unfortunately the journal was misplaced last summer. Perhaps it was accidentally packed with a families belongings, if so please call us at 827-2331 or toll free at 1-800-833-9786 or mail it to AFFM.

The cabin is located on the grounds of Orgonon, about
3-4 miles west of the town of Rangeley. The cabin is
approximately 75 yards away from Dodge Pond. Dodge pond
is a natural nesting place for loons, therefore power
boats, jet skis and recreational vehicles (i.e. four
wheelers) are strictly prohibited. Rowboats and canoes
are permitted. At the foot of the path leading to the
pond is a floating platform. The platform is a great
spot for shore fishing, sunbathing and jumping into
the water. The water is deep and the area is very rocky.
Children will require careful
supervision. Life jackets are necessary for non-swimmers.
