Bette Hoxie, Liasion Director
Bette Hoxie is the cofounder and liaison director of
Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine (AFFM). AFFM officially
opened for business in 1998.
Bette is mother to 15 children, 3 biological, 8 adopted
and 4 former foster children who consider the Hoxie
home their home. She is also raising one of her grandsons.
Bette has cared for over 150 foster children since becoming
licensed in 1972. She has worked in the child welfare
field as an advocate for adoptive, foster and birth
parents of special needs children since 1980.
Bette specializes in providing training to individuals
caring for children with prenatal exposure to alcohol
and drugs. Bette has been providing training to adoptive,
foster and birth parents since 1984.
Bette is an avid advocate for kinship providers and
she also serves as a Court
Appointed Special Advocate.
